Type One Superstar
These inspiring words were written by Jay Knight from Georgia:
“This is a picture of our T1 high school senior, John, playing in a recent basketball game for his high school. I post these things for moms and dads like me who, after diagnosis, pondered the life altering aspects of this bitch of a condition. Our diagnosis was 6 1/2 years ago. John was athletic and I sought and shared with him stories of T1’s like Adam Morrison (Chicago Bulls) and Jay Cutler (QB of Chicago Bears). I just wanted to share a picture of John playing in case it might ease the anxiety of young parents of young or newly diagnosed kids.”
John’s mother, Michelle, adds, “Exercise has benefited John tremendously. He is really a good scrappy athlete. Jay and I both think the diabetes has made him tougher.”
We thank the Knight family for sharing John’s encouraging success. Keeping an active lifestyle is an important aspect of leading a healthy life with Type 1 Diabetes. We encourage Type One families to have a regular exercise routine. Having the children in organized sports is a great way to get exercise and have fun!!
